Elia's Hope News letter

 ELIA'S HOPE MINISTRIES

Please Read All The Way Down

Our ministry was formed by co-founders Pamela Brown Tatum and Pastor Elia Lyoto Nixson. We began discussing things up to 6 years ago, we both have a heart for orphan, and vulnerable children. We began the ministry in January 2017.

Our ministry serves vulnerable children, orphans and widows in Nyakabungo village, Mwanza,Tanzania Africa.

Elia's church home is Calvary Baptist Church, Nyakabungo. (His dad is Pastor.)  Pamela's church home is Crestmont Baptist Church, Burleson, Texas.

HELLO to all our friends, family, supporters, and everyone!

Elia's Hope is excited to tell you our news from 2019.  And our goals for 2020.

We are going full steam ahead with our  33 boys and girls . We feed them Saturday breakfast and Sunday breakfast and lunch.

Saturdays they come to the church and play games, sing and hear the word of God.

We also have 12 widows that we tend to. They are mother's to Elias Hope children .

It is our goal in 2020 to serve each one in finding a job.

They have all accepted Christ and attend church every Sunday with their children. We've had one conversion from Islam. Praise The Lord!

These families are so wonderful! We bless each family at Christmas with a holiday meal and plenty of food to take home. Elia's Hope gives them, flour, corn flour, sugar, oil, beans, and rice,

This is part of the Tanzanian diet.

We also provide a set of new clothing for each child, that we have made by a seamstress. Last year at Christmas we also gave all the children mosquito nets. The nets are needed to ward off diseases that mosquitos transmit

On a regular basis the mothers and grandparents of these kids do not have the resources to feed the children .They  sometimes only have porridge ( a liquid made from wheat flour and water) to eat, usually without sugar. or they may eat Ugali, made from corn flour and water, stirred and cooked.

Some of our Elia's Hope children actually sleep in the dirt. So it is our goal to provide mats and mattresses in 2020

As Americans, most of us never miss a meal. We eat fast food, or home cooked food,. We drink milk, eat eggs, cheese, also meat and vegetables, and fruit.

Yes there are families here in the USA who are not able to provide food for their families, but most of us are well fed. We have many ways to get food if we have no money, most of the time.

The families in Tanzania have no resources. The government of Tanzania has no social programs of any sort. They do not give free medical care ever. They certainly do not feed anyone.  It is our goal in 2020 to provide more food to children and their families.

We are finding new people constantly outside of the village, of Nyakabungo. The children can't go to school without school uniforms, and school books, They do not have food to eat either, a lot  of times, so we began reaching out to these families with dire needs.

Usually Elia hears from another pastor, and then he visits the village where they live. If we can help we do. So far we have every time.

Pastor : Suleman Kanagana

Elia's Hope visited and helped Lemi Juma Duta, Age 8  and  Monica Juma Duta Age 6, and their grandma in Sapiwi village Bariadi, Simiyu Region

We provided clothing, school uniforms and workbooks, and Elia also brought them food.

These two little girls told all their friends at school about their good luck and Lemi told them all about Jesus, so  before you know it their Church is filled and overflowing!

Picture of Lemi and Monica

Their Church had 27 members until Lemi went to work.

Now it is filled to the brim with 50 adults and 150 children. The best part of all is the 70 salvations since the people started coming! Praise God! He is at work in the lives of these children and families. Picture of Lemi

Pastor Suleman Kanagana reported to me:

"The church now has grown up, even is continuing to grow up.

This has been a blessing and miracle  for our church".

We marvel at the hands of God, and to see Lemi change everything for many people in her community. We praise the Lord for this precious little girl, and this many people saved and baptised!

17/JUNE 2019

We bought  Elia’s Hope 20 chairs  and 5 Tables for kindergarten, oh yes we have a kindergarten at Nyakabungo Calvary Baptist Church. Since it isn't available at local schools we can teach. We have a wonderful teacher that works part time. She is a volunteer. We are very thankful to have her.

10/ August 2019

We filmed a video of street children living on a river in Mwanza. We brought them to the church for food and fellowship, where Elia and Meja Masawi shared Christ

Their clothes are in rags.

Their living conditions are appalling.

Elia Lyoto Nixson and Meja Masawi are both seen in this video.

Video

Street kids are orphans whose parents are dead, mostly from HIV/Aids, some have been kicked out of their homes because their mothers cannot feed them. Heart breaking for real. Our goal for the future is to eventually help as many as possible by building a home for them.

At this time we are caring for three teen orphan boys. They live at Nyakabungo Calvary Baptist Church, and Elia's mom Edina cooks them three meals a day, as well tending to their needs. One of the boys named Yohana was sick with a very serious infection last week. He was hospitalized for the whole week, and was given injections hourly. He received the best of care. Yohana is feeling much better now.

Elia's Hope has taken many of our children to the hospital and clinic, for malaria, typhoid, and others, some with broken bones too.

James Johachim is one of our kids. He is disabled with Cerebral Palsy.

We are looking for those who can come alongside us and sponsor him to go to a special school. We need about $261.00 a year, for tuition. He needs special care that is centered around his disabilities. As of now he has not had the opportunity to go. This week he was very sick. Thank goodness Elia's Hope got him to the clinic.

He was diagnosed with yellow fever and also has UTI malaria and typhoid,  he also lacks vitamins. We were able to get the medicine he needed, Praise The Lord! James is feeling better now.

Father God I pray you will heap blessings on this child and his mother. Heal his little body now in the name of Mighty Jesus the Great Physician.

Amen

Won't you please consider helping James?

Elias Hope is very grateful for Elia's father Pastor Nixson and his mother Edina They go out of the way to help us anytime we need their help, no matter what! They truly love these children.

Elia and his wife Jasintha work very hard to love, comfort and minister to the children. Elia works nearly every day to tend to all sorts of things, riding a bus for hours sometimes, taking them to the hospital or clinic, and shopping too.

Pictures

Elia's mother Edina and wife Jasintha do most of the shopping for food,  & other things. They do the cooking, and serving. As well as any other task needed .Thank  you ladies, and all of my Tanzanian family!

Meja Masawe teaches the children, in Sunday school and many other times as well. He is very kind and truly loves these kids!! Thank you Meja!

The Mission Committee at Calvary Baptist Church Nyakabungo, has helped us many times, they are always happy to help us with shopping, and any other needs we have. Even being on short notice for a live video chat. Also voting when needed.

A rundown of our goals for 2020

1 Pay for little James tuition to a special school for children with disabilities.

2 Buy mats or mattresses for all Elia's Hope children.

3 Provide more food for Elia's Hope children and families.

4 Help all widows find jobs. Or give them the money they need to start their own businesses, selling much needed food, and other things people need.

5 Helping local street kids more, by providing more food. Our ultimate goal for the future,  is to have resources available to build a home for them, and our three orphans.

6 Continue outreach to our neighbors.

7 Have funds available to buy Elia a laptop, and camera. As of now he borrows a camera. He really needs a laptop to keep up with all tasks.

One last thing, we would appreciate your prayers!

Prayer can be powerful, we need all you can do in praying for these precious children and families of God.

Thank you!

Pamela Brown Tatum.

Matthew 25:35-36

35For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. 36I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.
